since he cant die , he loves watching others die , maybe he just wants to be killed? you never see him dodge a lethal blow.
Why would he bother dodging a lethal blow if he's unkillable anyway? Also, it was established he almost never inflicted lethal blows himself: even that Kingbo guy in Season 1 somehow survived (and fully recovered, eluded arrest, disguised himself among the UW soldiers, destroyed the rock Bosse stuffed Ouken in, chopped the latter's head off, threw it into a lake AND escaped laughing while everyone else just stood there bamboozled)
it is a good point , but it could be the other way round too.
I think it is more because he doesnt feel that fear of dying anymore which somehow screws with his psyche and the only way for him to experience that fear of dying is by mortally wounding others and watiching them go through it
It's really sad how it warped his personality.
Immortality is the worst curse there can be.
It's sad that Ouken didn't even choose to be immortal or ageless, he is not facing repercussions of a choice he made, his father is the one that inflicted the curse upon him before he was even born and sped up the process by attempting to take over his body.
It sucks a fraction of his father was left in Ouken and so he was able to take his time without anyone knowing.
I'm glad we got this episode, you would think we would get something like this in the actual series but I'm so glad they extended the backstory here.
Hopefully they will be able to find a cure for him, but I can't imagine the despair Ouken will feel after he's back to his senses.
It's sad that Ouken didn't even choose to be immortal or ageless
"THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!"
Hopefully they will be able to find a cure for him
That's why Desha agreed to enter the Chamber of Secrets at the end of Season 1, after Despa&co. failed to get the demon's head.
(Speaking of, they'll need to retrieve Ouken's head too after Kingbo yeeted it into a lake and a fish swallowed it)
Already felt sorry for this guy back in season 1. Now that we have an in-depth backstory I couldn't feel sorry for the brothers as well. It must be hard for them seeing their younger brother go through so much. I guess the kings in these series just want to prolong their reign and power, just like how Boji's dad sacrificed two of his sons. It's a shame that they have to become victims of their fathers' greed.
you are a bit incorrect about Bosse... his love for Miranjo and his wish to be the most powerful king were his initial wants. it is true that Bosse did sacrifice Bojji's 'giant abilities', but Bosse wasn't exactly fully knowledgeable about the demon's price for Bosse's increased strength. only Miranjo knew the whole deal with how Bojji would be born and her love for Bosse was a great deal more obsessive than Bosse realized at first. then, after Bosse's wife Shiina (Bojji's mom) died in a failed attempt by Miranjo to possess Shiina's body herself, was when he finally figured it out. Bosse also knew Miranjo would not stop her obsessive behavior. so, when he married Hilling (since she had magic like Miranjo) he hoped his plan to... for a time... possess their son Daida would give Bosse the strength of a half giant, the magic of Hilling's 'tribe', and some of his own strength. this final plan of his was so that he could finally lay Miranjo to rest and perhaps atone for sacrificing Bojji's 'giant abilities' in some small way. that 'temporary possession' is why Daida's soul was not destroyed or trapped in a vessel like Miranjo was inside her mirror. in the end Bosse's plan was pretty much carried out... in a seriously roundabout way.
I'm pretty sure, miranjo didn't want to possessed shiina's body, she killed her because she's in the way of bosse and her dream to be free and going on an adventure
also miranjo also the one who asked bosse to married and have a child again, hence why she's the one who'd chosen hilling because of her ability to heal, and ofc the children possessing plan was miranjo's plan not bosse, you either had a wrong impression's about all this or reading too much into it
Season 1 already established how much Desha and Despa cared for their brother though, and also how Desha himself was actually a great king despite appearances.
King of the underworld
Wow no boji in this episode
lets name this episode "Ousama no Boji Hero Nai"
I loved seeing ouken's past. Now I wanna see more miranjo and bosse
i wanna see the villagers peel the skin on her face off
omggg yasss backstory timeee!!! :D
Finally it’s out
I like Ouken's mustache...
F for Ouken. His not dead but he has lost his humanity.
*an Ouken episode* Why are we here? Just to suffer? T_T
Added a good bit more detail to the story we got in season 1, even if much of this was already known.
an episode about Ouken?? SIGN ME UP! Ill eat that shit up all day long. The directing in this episode was amazing.
Tragic backstory.
Most of these episodes are decent I guess and that’s fine we don’t need every episode to be incredible
Yes its here lets go.
Kinda messed up that the second in command just left Ouken lol
He most likely left to find that demon or something.
did he leave of is he really dead?
[Update]
Told ya.
Nice yet sad episode.
Ouken the power has changed him that is not good.
There are very few anime out there as good as " Rankings of the Kings".
One of the things that is so good about this anime is it's unique but beautiful and effective animation.
Mainly those action sequences, the way they are bruised and cut and actually bleed like normal humans.
Unilke 90% of anime and 99.9% of Iseaki anime out there where even after using every weapon in their arsenal and even after nuking them at most their clothes get shredded ( that is also in very few instances).
And those numbers are just my personal observations but I believe they are quite accurate.
holy shi now this is what i call quality !
My guess is that fren is either looking for the devils skull or he is a demon himself and he didnt want to get killed
just bury him like hidan
Lol true
Well, currently he's already smashed like a paper and squashed like a ball by Bosse in Daida's body, and got yeeted down the lake...
I'm certain Fren is gonna appear again and have some involvement in Ouken finally being freed from this curse, once we're past this season and get to see the story progress.
Setup and payoff.
Great episode 👍
oh wow, that's sucha good episode!
every single one infact, all the details we didn't know!
"Eh, amateur!"
- Connor McLeod ("Highlander")
(Except not, because the Immortals die if beheaded, unlike Ouken)
This episode was really needed, as in the main series Ouken's change from "Whoops, i can't die" to "I'll kill everything that moves!" felt quite nonsensical.
Is this just it for the explanation of his immortality? What‘s a demon? How would they get a demon???
I don't think that this is the end of his backstory
you forgot about the red demon who became friend with miranjo? the demon granted King Bosse's wishes to get power at the cost of his child's strength....when the king got defeated, the demon appeared for a short while to take the king's soul
Guess you haven't watched the first season...
I have. & also forgotten all of it.
Guess you have to rewatch it all then.
oof no. Went in blind in 1st season & that was great. Not the type of anime that's worth a rewatch.
Ouken's tragic story from the greatest to immortal machine
